Becker College is excited to host the area’s first Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality forum and weekend Hackathon this Spring.
The forum will showcase various VR/AR/MR experiences as well as provide an expert panel to discuss current development trends and future forward visions in the field. Open discussion, Q&A, and group networking and brainstorming will be facilitated during this period — the hackathon kick-off.
The Hackathon will provide 24 hours for participating groups to break out into campus spaces, hunker down and develop exciting new applications in the VR/AR/MR space. A volunteer VR-Squad formed from members of our community will be available to answer questions about best practices, VR design, hardware issues, and other challenges for the entire Hackathon period. Breaks for meals, impromptu gaming, and of course reciprocal group testing will occur throughout the hackathon — many options exist at our new Campus Center or head to one of Leicester’s cafes or eateries just around the corner!
A showcase, open to the community at large will conclude the forum, during which time judging will occur. The judging panel will be looking for innovation, concept, and potential! We will conclude with the awarding of cash prizes for the top three submissions.
